Holiday Lights around Houston

November 29, 2016
Driving around with your kids looking at holiday lights is one of the most fun things you can do with your family. Pack the car with hot chocolate (in spill proof cups) and snacks and set the radio to 'round the clock Christmas music.
When we drive around oohing and ahhing at the decorations and the lights, I never once hear "are we there yet?" or "can we go home now?"

Here is a quick list of places you can visit to drive or walk to see holiday lights.

Pecan Grove Holiday Hay Rides - This Travis HS project grad fundraiser has been a popular one for several years and tends to sell out quickly. It's a fun way for larger groups of friends and family can see the neighborhood lights together. It is $5 per person and the trailer holds 20 people.

River Oaks
I visited the River Oaks Country Club a couple weeks ago as a volunteer for a fundraiser and they were just stringing the lights around the neighborhood. You will probably not find a grander neighborhood for holiday lights. Many areas have security stations so please be aware of that. A good starting point would be Kirby at Westheimer but I love the area by the country club. You can map your trip HERE

These two neighborhoods combined make more one of Houston's most historic holiday lights display.
The best spot to start is north of West 43rd Street on either side of Ella Boulevard and make your way to Bethlehem St.

Green Tee Terrace in Pearland is also a well known neighborhood with beautiful light displays. You can also participate in the
Tour de Lites Family Bicycle Ride and Hay Wagon Ride on Saturday December 10, 2016. This does have a cost and you must register, savings if you pre-register.
