No matter what school your child attends, whether it be in Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD, Lamar CISD or other, it is most-likely closed due to the current climate of the nation and precautions over the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Most schools have announced closings for at least 2 weeks, but the reality is, we are in a holding pattern until we all see what things look like as time passes. What does this mean? You are now “homeschooling it” for the time being.
Okay, maybe not officially. After all, schools WILL reopen. Life WILL get back to normal. And we all WILL be able to breathe a sigh of relief. But during this time, to decrease the impact these events have on our children, creating a routine can ensure some bit of normalcy for them.
Below is a sample of what you may want to follow for your little ones during this time away from school:
8AM – 10AM | Wash up | Brush teeth, shower, get dressed, make bed, etc. |
9AM – 10AM | Breakfast | |
10AM – 12PM | Class Time | Some school districts are offering distance learning option to complete assignments; for those with no school-assigned work, try reading, flashcards, diary entries |
12PM – 1PM | Lunch Time | Older kids can help with making lunch; all can help with clean up |
1PM – 2PM | Fresh Air/Outside | If feasible, walk to a park, trail or let the kids spend time playing in the backyard |
2PM – 4PM | Class Time | Finish up any assignments from the morning; visit learning sites such as Khan Academy |
