By Betsy Winters December 23, 2020

This year I decided to have a real live Christmas tree! However, the needles are starting to fall off and it will need to be disposed of properly. Please don’t trash your real tree after the holidays! Real trees are biodegradable, which means they can be reduced into mulch or used for other purposes. Residents of Katy can recycle their tree for free, courtesy of the Public Works Department. It's as easy as taking off all the decorations and dragging it out to your curb.

Place your tree on the curb by 8:am on either of these days:

• Monday, December 28th.

• Thursday, January 7th.

Tees must have all decorations, ornaments, tinsel, lights and stands removed to be recycled and It may take a few days to be picked up. Flocked trees and/or artificial trees cannot be recycled. If you are not able to recycle your trees during the collection days, alternate locations for tree recycling are:

• Living Earth - Katy West, 27733 Katy Freeway, Katy, TX 77494

• New Earth, 6205 FM 2855, Katy, TX 77493
